Electric Car Charger Connector Standardization

With the uprising of electric cars and hybrid plug-ins, Society of Automotive Engineering (SAE) has approved a standard connector or contact to be used in general. Consists of five pin connector and is used to provide electricity with a voltage 120 or 240 volts.

This is the first time agreed upon standards based on industry consensus and is made SAE J1772 updates made in 1996. New standards to accommodate their use in electric cars that require the latest gnerasi rapid charging battery of high energy.

Indicator
Manufacturers that produce these connectors in accordance with the standard "SAEJ1772" should include codes on the product surface. Same with the indicator on oil cans that use SAE standards. Thus, buyers or users obtain certainty can use at home, in office or place of public electric charging.

"Consumers or users of electric cars (another type of plug-ins) will benefit from this standard. They do not need to worry, he bought the appliance can be used anywhere, at home and other public places, "said Steve Matsin, Executive Director, Vehicle Systems, General Motors (resigned), also Chairman of the SAE Motor Vehicle Council from 2007 until 2009 .

Fast Charging
How to use a standard electric recharging device is as easy as pumping gas at the pump today. Options filling, single phase AC power, 120 V with currents up to 16 Amperes or Level 2 AC, single phase, 240 Volt with currents up to 80 Amperes.

Standard connector is a collaborative effort of automotive experts from the United States, Europe and Japan. SAE has also adopted this tool to be used in countries that use 220-volt electric with tension.

Step SAE standard determine the electrical connectors associated with the electrification of the car the car will reach a global scale in the next few years.
